Dearest Bob -
'Tis June 13, 2004.
It has been a long, hard winter here.
But now 'tis springtime in the mountains.
The sun is warm, the grass is green, and the birds are singing.
The land and the soul are rejuvenated.
The stallions are all sleek and fit, with rippling muscles and glistening coats.
The colts have arrived, and are frolicking and sleeping in the warm sun and the green grass.
I can feel you proudly smiling down on us - a little surprised,
but beaming and pleased at all that I have done and the fact that I have survived.
We hold you close in our hearts and in our dreams,
and we feel your presence daily.
Life seems so empty without you here.
It is hard to imagine that it has been two years.
I am a mere shadow of the person I used to be.
We are at peace to know that you are in a better place,
and suffer no more the trials of this earth.
We eagerly look forward to seeing you again.
I remind myself daily that what doesn't destroy us makes us stronger.
From Idaho with love,
Your loving wife, Linda and "son" Eric |
